Zombie Formalism

I think my work would probably best be categorized as Zombie Formalism: it’s just abstraction that takes strained theorizing to imbue it with meaning. It doesn’t really push the abstract expressionist question forward, though I wonder if that’s even possible.
And there’s nothing wrong with not pushing the conversation, I guess. Lots of traditional forms of all arts just exist. rock music, pottery, landscapes, watercolor. If they are pleasing to your eye, and they were made with effort and intent, that’s enough. If they resonate deeply, that’s gravy, I guess.
